Smoked to the Bone - Ottawa May 30, 2008

A big round of congratulations go to our own Mike Kerslake and his BBQ team "HOMEFIRES BURNING". The team pulled an impressive 2nd in Chicken and another 2nd in Brisket. While Pork and Ribs were a little disappointing, this is the world of BBQ and there are so many variables to contend with. I can tell you from my vantage point here in London, the Ottawa weather was not as cooperative as one would have hoped. I am glad I was not me trying to BBQ with all of that wind and rain. 

Homefires Burning is Mike's family team that is touring the Ontario circuit. The team profile consists of his wife Denise, his sister Michele and his wonderful daughter Hannah. If you have to haul your butt all over the province to compete, what better option then to have your family along for the ride, better yet as your team mates. Unfortunately even though he is the Head Cook and Pitt Boss, with his wife and sister on the team,  I'm not sure that he gets the final say.

All things considered, we here at "Les Noiracochon", and "The Black Pig BBQ" are very proud of the team's results.
